5 Day / 4 Night

Cape Town – Oudtshoorn – Kynsna – Addo Elephant National Park – Kynsna – Cape Town

Day 1 – Cape Town to Oudtshoorn

As per the tour above, we depart Cape Town and head straight onto the Garden Route. We travel along the scenic Route 62 to Oudtshoorn, stopping along the way in the quaint and historic little towns for refreshments and lunch. Oudtshoorn is world renowned for its ostrich farms, so we stop in the afternoon to visit one of these farms and interact with these amazing creatures, feeding them by hand, or watching an ostrich derby, before arriving at the Rosenhof Boutique Hotel which is your accommodation for the night.

Day 2 – Oudtshoorn to Knysna

After breakfast we start our day with a visit to the Cango Caves, a spectacular underground wonder where you will find the finest dripstone caverns, with their vast halls and towering formations.  We then start our journey to Knysna, arriving at lunch time.  We spend the afternoon exploring this pretty coastal town itself and you enjoy a 1 ½ hour catamaran cruise on the Knysna Lagoon and witness the giant sandstone cliffs dominating the entrance to the Indian Ocean and known as the ‘Knysna Heads’.  At the end of the day you stay at the luxury boutique Kanonkop Guest House, overlooking the Knysna lagoon.

Day 3 – Knysna to Addo Elephant National Park

We depart Knysna and spend the morning travelling to Addo Elephant National Park, now the third largest national park in South Africa. Addo Elephant National Park has expanded to conserve a wide diversity of biodiversity, landscapes, fauna and flora, and covers about 180 000 hectares (444 700 acres) and includes the Bird and St Croix Island groups.  Today this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 550 elephants, lions, buffalo, black rhino, spotted hyena, leopard, a variety of antelope and zebra species, as well as the unique Addo flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo.  We check-in to the Riverbend Lodge, a luxury 5-star lodge in a private concession and experience a safari at its best.  After arriving in the afternoon, you can relax before a late afternoon Game Drive with a Game Ranger, on an open-sided 4×4 game vehicle and enjoy a real African safari.  Dinner and drinks are included at the lodge.

Day 4 – Addo to Knysna

You will have an early morning Game Drive with a Game Ranger, for another safari experience, before returning to the lodge for breakfast and checkout late morning.  We then exit Addo and make our way back to Knysna, stopping along the way.  Our last night is spent back at Kanonkop Boutique hotel.

Day 5 – Knysna to Cape Town

On our last day together we start our journey back to Cape Town, this time travelling the N2 highway, stopping along the way before arriving at the end of the day.

Rates from R34,150 per person based on minimum two guests.  All experiences and accommodation included, meaning only your meals are extra (breakfast included and all food and local drinks included when at Riverbend Lodge in Addo).

This tour can also include extra nights on safari at the Riverbend Lodge in Addo (we’d ideally recommend 2-3 nights) before continuing back to Knysna for a night and then on to Cape Town.
